What others say

My passion for mixology turned into a desire to create my own brand. The first time I made a pina colada I knew this was what I wanted to do. I went to mixology school and quickly started working in nightclubs and bars throughout Queens, New York. I loved what I was doing and being a Bartender was the best job I had to date.

I never imagined owning my brand of rum, However, I can’t help but think this is full circle for me.  I remember my first day in the night club I was so nervous that I forgot all the recipes, when someone asked me to make a specific drink I made what I thought would taste good. When the patrons started coming back towards the bar I thought to myself I’m finished. Sweating and nervous I just wanted to walk out, but then they said can you make that same drink? Not long after that, I became the “go-to girl “ I was asked to do private parties, and bar owners would request me. I was having the time of my life.

Though I got away from the bar scene to raise my children it was never far from me, I took every opportunity to get behind the bar during family gatherings, and parties for friends to enter a mixology contest on a cruise and win with the drink I called the blue boogie.

It just made sense to have my own brand of rum and name it after my 2 children. I brought the idea to my family and they were excited to get on board and start this journey with me. One person’s dream became a family reality. We created a recipe and Mon Rey was born. We named the company 184th Street Legacy to commemorate the block we grew up on. I’m overjoyed to take this journey and the best part is I get to do it with my family and together we mix what we love.

Our family vibe is good company, good music, and of course good drinks. We'd like to welcome you to our family, let us make you a drink.
